ACS Journals Now Online!

NEIU Library now offers online access to 38 American Chemical Society Journals.

The Library is pleased to offer a trial of online access to all 38 journals published by the American Chemical Society, the leading publisher of peer-reviewed research journals in the chemical and related sciences. Full-text access is from 1996 to the present (or from the first issue if a title began publication after 1996).

See the Articles tab for more information.

Chemisry Research

Depending on the type of chemistry research you're doing, you may want to use:

Before You Get Started...

Can I do all my research at home or from a computer off-campus?

Yes. However, many resources are licensed for NEIU users only, so you'll need to login using your NEIU NetID and Password when accessing them off-campus. The Library's online resources are available 24 hours a day.

What is Interlibrary Loan and why is it important?

During the course of your library research you may identify materials you need that we don't own. Interlibrary Loan is important because it is a free service the library offers to get you those materials. In other words, if we don't own it, we'll get it for you.

How does Interlibrary Loan work?

There are two ways of getting something we don't own from Interlibrary Loan.

  1. Request a book we don't own that you find in I-Share. I-Share is a single library catalog interface that searches over 70 libraries in Illinois. To request a book from I-Share you need to create a Library Catalog account using the 14 digit number on your NEIU ID card. You will be able to pick up the book once it arrives at the NEIU library circulation desk.

  2. Use ILLiad Interlibrary Loan to request an online version of a journal or magazine article that we don't own (either in print or online), or a book that is not available in I-Share (this is not common). To use Illiad you must first register your account using your NetID and password. Online versions of requested articles are delivered to your online ILLiad account, and books are delivered to the NEIU library circulation desk.

What is the "Find It@NEIU" service and why is it important?

The Find It@NEIU Find It@NEIU button appears in library databases and the library catalog. The most common use of this service is to direct you to the full text online version of an article that is not available in the particular database you are searching. If the article is available online from another database, this service will find it for you. If the item is not available online, follow the link provided to search the catalog to see if we have a print copy in the library. If there is no online or print copy, follow the Illiad Interlibrary Loan link to request it from another library.
