The Language of Business
Accounting is frequently called "the language of business." This is because the financial statements produced by accountants communicate an organization's economic activities to people inside an organization and to people outside an organization. Identifying, recording, analyzing and interpreting these activities is done in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles and with government regulations.
Most accounting books are used for reference, as a source of information about some particular aspect of accounting. The Library has many accounting references that can be found, except where noted, in the reference area of the Library located on the first floor to the west (right) of the reference desk. Note that reference books do not circulate and cannot be checked out.
